I just wanted to get some feedback on the different daily fantasy sites we’ve used the last 3 years. This isn’t an official vote on what to use, I just wanted to see the opinions that are out there. Please take a second to vote on your favorite among the three:

Poll results for what to do with the league next year came back highly inconclusive. It’s really close to a 50/50 result, but a major problem occurred. We are currently sitting at 11 responses. There are 9 of us. So that means some of you out there cheated and voted twice or some of you out there are stupid and voted twice. Either way, it’s highly disconcerting.

Since I’m personally betting on “stupid” and picturing two of you looking at & messing up that simple poll dressed like Cartman when he pretended to be retarded, I will probably end up texting each of you to get individual results & feedback. Stay tuned.

I added one short poll question to gauge everyone’s thoughts about the daily system we’ve done for this league the last two years. Like I said in a post a few weeks ago, I think I honestly prefer the standard league, but I’m willing to do either. I also had an idea that we could bring back a standard league, but continue to have a weekly payout for the top score (so it includes the best parts of both).

Just gauging everyone’s feelings at this point, so if you would, please vote on what you’d like to see for the future of the league.

Thanksgiving Games

I meant to send this out earlier, but no big deal – if you haven’t noticed, the Thanksgiving games do not affect this week’s contest. It will begin Sunday at 1:00 ET/Noon CT as usual.

Week 8 Contest

If you aren’t aware, the automatically generated Week 8 contest included the London games, making the deadline to submit your lineups somewhere around 10:00am EDT. Five managers, including me, missed this and did not submit a lineup.

My Reasonable Reaction
It’s my fault I didn’t set my lineup and it’s the individual manager’s faults who didn’t set their’s. I was sent the email early in the week that the contest was open and I should have done it early so I would not be in this mess.

My Hot Take Reaction
This sucks. Furthermore, I might think daily fantasy sucks. Easy to say when you’re in last place and haven’t won a week, but honestly in two years of doing daily I can’t say I’ve had even close to as much fun as the old standard league.

I’m going to (try to) add a comment thread to this page in case you want to voice your feedback. I have discussed in person with Paul ways that we could maybe fix daily to make it work better, but with such limited customization across the three main sites, I’m just not sure if it’s possible. If you made me vote right now between continuing with a daily league or going back to a standard one, I think I’d pick the latter.

League Scoring System

I was in Indy for a short stint this weekend and had a chance to talk to my Lt. Commissioner about how the league is going. We talked a lot about the 4-2-1 scoring system and how it is working out this year. It was a good chat mixing my desire to keep scoring as simplified as possible without going by total points scored, with the need to reward decent weeks to more managers. I expressed my concern that I don’t want scoring to become like NASCAR and that was mutually agreed upon. However, I understand managers wanting to get a season point for a top-half performance. That said, next year we will probably start awarding a point or two for 4th place, and possibly expand it to 5th as well. So it would become something like 5-3-2-1 or 6-4-3-2-1. Gonna Wait for Week 5 to Re-Generate This Week

Last week Shane started unnecessarily freaking out and sweating helped his Commissioner by letting me know the weekly contest had not re-generated. I bit, created a new contest, and as a result was unable to include the Monday games. Of course, the weekly contest re-generated (just like it should have) and we missed out. So just FYI- I’m going to wait to let it re-generate this week as planned. I won’t post a new contest until minimum Saturday if it doesn’t happen. In the meantime, be on the lookout for the contest “IUFF Week 1 by flotowdoctrine #5”.

New Week 4 Contest Posted

Recurring contest still has not yet auto-regenerated so I went ahead and created a new contest for the week named “IUFF Week 4”. The only options were 12 games (eliminating London & Sunday Night) and 14 games (which would have forced entries to be in by early Sunday morning). Neither included the Monday game. I chose the former to give managers time on Sunday to fill their rosters if they want to wait.

Week 4 Contest Has Not Posted Yet

Shane has let me know that the Week 4 contest has not generated on the DraftKings site yet. I’m going to keep an eye on it and hopefully it will be up tomorrow. I’d hate to make yet another one to add to the confusion. I’ll keep you all posted.
